Rose & Ginger Tea


My BFF Miss Sunshine recently came back from a lengthly trip overseas with her boyfriend to India. On her way back, she managed to give me a sprinkling of some aromatic rose and ginger loose leaf teas as part of a souvenir since she knows how much I <3 Tea!

I've tried a brew of the Ginger tea variety so far. The fragrance is sweet and overwhelming, but with the strong aroma of Ginger comes this natural cold remedy that is warming and calming. I'm yet to try the Rose by itself, but it does smell delicious...

All tea types usually carry antioxidants and have been beneficial to our health.. 

why is [rose] tea good for you?

As for Rose tea it has been proven to behold many medicinal properties. According to here, tea can contain healthy doses of vitamins C, D, K, E as well as the necessary organic acids to help strengthen and maintain you body's digestive system.

With such a high in-take for vitamins, this means that Rose hip tea contains high levels of vitamin C which helps the body fight off colds and flu germs and viruses (always seek a doctor's advice for further details). That's because the rose hip fruit parts are the ones which contain more vitamin C levels than fresh citrus fruits, like oranges or grapefruits. 

A single cup of fresh rose tea is equivalent to approximately fifty to sixty citrus oranges!

why is [ginger] tea good for you?

Just like it's neighbourly tea the Rose, the Ginger tea helps aid you in different ways. It's been said here that mostly known for keeping down your nausea or pain, Ginger root elements in tea when consumed help in keeping reduced nausea by blocking key serotonin receptors in the stomach. It's also been linked to reducing motion sickness, post-operative recovery states and aids during pregnancy as it warms your body and helps relieve you naturally from these situations. (but only temporarily, always seek a doctor's advice).

Another great factor is that ginger tea contains plenty of antioxidants and is linked to help relieve arthritis.

Is there any downside to consuming tea?
According to here, there are some things that matter when consuming copious amounts of tea as there are many people who could suffer from various side effects and risks.

The first major side effect is caffeine. When I drink coffee it's the caffeine stimuli which can often give me horrible side effects, but luckily I don't seem to get the same effects from teas so I usually stick to tea instead. That may be because I'm more sensitive to different coffee bean types or caffeine, I'm not quite sure as yet. 

As for tea, some people may be sensitive to the differing types of tea leaves, where it was grown and harvested is also a factor that could risk people's consumption because you're not too aware of where it was handled/planted. 

Did you know that even decaffeinated teas could still be a concern? That's because even decaffeinated tea contains 0.4 percent by dry weight caffeine, which is much less caffeine than you get in a regular cup of tea, but possibly of concern if you are sensitive enough.

Other factors include excessive amounts of tannin (which can be anti-bacterial and reduce several minerals by the digestive system causing a loss for calcium or iron) or even pesticides, which is still present in some Australian brands. In 2003, it was tested 55 widely available brands of tea for pesticide residue. Nearly 40% tested positive amongst the rest. Seek organic tea to avoid pesticides.
