Wahaca Mexican Kitchen, UK


Wahaca Southbank is right next to the Southbank Centre and overlooks the river. In a funky teal bright blue shipment container converted into a multi function restaurant/bar, Wahaca is a Mexican Street Kitchen eatery bring Londoners a fresh, seasonal menu of Mexican flair. 

The place has an upbeat feel with seating along the outside for an al fresco over the river view and then inside you have the bar area and upstairs a lofty yet industrial style seated floor with chairs and tables. The kitchen is a long and narrow counter top of plates being whisked off by the staff row by row. 

The menu itself was vast and had plenty of options to choose from - share plates, big vs small plates and then desserts. Sadly I've forgotten to write down which is what! What I also liked was that they have a Vegan/Gluten-free and Kids menu to cater for all types of diners. 

Being a franchise that is a huge supporter for all things fresh and sustainable, the menu is always updated and changing. Each table has a small paper menu which the staff circle onto when you make an order to confirm what you're wanting - before inputting it onto the POS. Wahaca also have their own app for you to order and pay over app rather than via the wait staff should you be on the go which is called 'Wahaca Quick Pay' which seemed neat if your a regular. I was tempted to try it out - however could not bother to create an account just for a once-off payment. 

And then my newly found favourite milky drink apart from a Thai Milk Tea.. the humble Horchata. 
An icy cool mix of almond and rice milk with a dash of cinnamon on top.  Since coming back home to Sydney I have been drinking rice milk instead of full cream milk to change things up.
